Port Blair renamed ot Shri Vijaya Puram
Modi Goverment has changed the name of Port Blair to Shri Vijaya Puram and made historic decision.
The name "Shri Vijaya Puram" symbolises Victory achieved in freedom struggle and the A&N Islands unique role in the same.
Amit Shah renamed the Capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Shri Vijaya Puram and wiped out the British Colonial imprints.
Mr.Shah said the Andaman and Nicobar Island have Important role in freedom and struggle of India , Islands had very important role from history,Once these Islands were main Naval base of Chole Empire.
Mr.Shah mentioned that Netaji Bose and Vinayak Savarkar's history with Andaman-Nicobar Islands.

Port Blair
Port Blair was named after the Archibald Blair , he was the naval surveyor and lieutenant in the Bombay Marine.
He was particulary noted for survery's of Chagos Archipelago and the Andaman Islands.
Mr.Blair did the survery of Andaman-Nicobar and found several natural harbours and named "Port Cornwallis" and later the renamed it after his name as "Port Blair".
