Shailputri is worshipped on the First Day of Navratri.
Shailputri is the First Durga among the Nine Durgas.
Shail means Mountain and putri means daughter so Shailputri is known as daughter of Mountain King Himalaya.
Devi Shailputri, also known as Parvati, is shown with two hands and has a crescent moon on her forehead. In her right hand, she holds a Trident ( Trishul ), and in her left hand, she holds a Lotus flower. Mata's vahaan is a bull named as Nandi.
